The aim of the Certificate is to provide advanced foundation training for medical and science graduates, and those in related industrial, policy and healthcare fields, in the rapidly evolving field of Translational Medicine and associated research.
Certificate level learning outcomes:
- Comprehensive introduction to translational research, highlighting its role and potential to advance medicine
- Demonstrate how modern biomedical research is increasingly impacting on all facets of clinical and laboratory medicine
- Deliver a thorough understanding of the core clinical, physiological, molecular, policy and societal issues defining translational medicine
- Definition of the inter-relationship between medical, scientific, regulatory and societal issues inherent in translational medicine and research
- Provide examples of the role of translational medicine in the fundamental understanding, treatment and diagnosis of disease
- Identify the role of translational medicine in drug discovery, biotech and pharmaceutical industries
The broad goals of the Certificate will also provide a foundation for focused investigation and training in the Diploma and MSc in Translational Medicine.
