Learning about
The Disappearing Male

Fremantle, Australia
November 2, 2003

Effective fertility rates are declining in the developed countries. In Australia, the proportions of both men and women who are childless are increasing and while we have an excellent understanding of the causes and treatment of female infertility, a good clinical basic understanding of the male has lagged. The international faculty provided delegates with new information on male reproductive health seen from a population-wide and evolutionary perspective.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the program, the participant was able to:

  • Determine the clinical and laboratory options for treating male infertility;
  • Identify the genetic, endocrine, biochemical and anatomical basis of male reproductive biology;
  • Analyze a long-term evolutionary perspective of human fertility and infertility.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Scientists, physicians and other health-related professionals, with interests in male reproduction and fertility.
