This two-day meeting provided a forum for interested physicians, practicing clinical embryologists, geneticists, basic scientists and other health professionals to exchange ideas and current concepts on genetic aspects in reproductive medicine. Concepts on reproductive genetics were reviewed and discussed as well as new emerging genetic technologies. There were several free interactive sessions representing the state of the art for the specialty.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of this meeting, attendees were be able to:
- Understand gene structure and molecular genetics applied to reproductive medicine including control of normal gametogenesis and fertility impairment.
- Understand chromosomal abnormalities in reproductive disorders.
- Discuss application for emerging genetic technologies applied to assisted reproductive medicine.
- Identify alternatives to treat couples with genetic disorders and improve the outcome of pregnancy in assisted reproductive technologies.
- Discuss bioethical consequences of emerging technology.
