MS Preceptorship

The objective of this workshop is to provide its participants with up-to-date information and views on Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in order to ensure optimal disease and treatment management of persons living with MS.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the workshop, the attendees will:

  • Review of pathogenic mechanisms of MS
  • Acquire knowledge on relationship between viral diseases and MS 
  • Review the current diagnostic criteria for MS and the ongoing developments
  • Describe the benefits of diagnostic tools, such as MRI or biological markers, in defining the natural history of MS and monitoring disease activity
  • Review the latest clinical data evaluating the role of disease modifying agents
  • Demonstrate basic competency with treatment optimization concepts and approaches
  • Present tools and indications of different rehabilitation approaches
  • Describe cognitive and psychological issues related to MS
  • Evaluate the best strategies of psychological interventions in MS
  • Strengthen abilities in the clinical management of MS

TARGET AUDIENCE   

This program is designed mainly for clinicians and scientists as well as other clinical professionals who are working with Multiple Sclerosis and interesting in sharing experiences and best practices in patient management in one of the European excellence centres as the Barcelona Neuroimmunology Unit. 

 
ACCREDITATION

Serono Symposia International Foundation (www.seronosymposia.org) will submit this program “MS Preceptorship: Updating knowledge on Multiple Sclerosis” for accreditation by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) and the Royal College of Physicians, London, UK. A partnership will be proposed to the University of Barcelona for local CME accreditation.
