Learning about
Neurodegenerative processes: Basic mechanisms and therapeutic implications

Rhodes, Greece
June 18, 2007

A satellite symposium held during the 17th European Neurological Society Meeting

The aim of this symposium is to produce a highly scientific and interesting programme underlying neurodegenerative processes and analyzing basic mechanisms and therapeutic implications. The purpose is to present current knowledge about neurodegenerative processes and to highlight the critical differences between three relevant neurological diseases: Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer and Parkinson's.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this symposia participants will be able to:

  • Acquire recent insights in mechanism of degeneration in neurological diseases;
  • Define the role of immunological system in the pathogenesis of degeneration;
  • Propose links between neuronal loss and functional decline;
  • Identify the therapeutic targets in the pathogenetic mechanisms.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Scientists, clinicians, biologists, paramedical staff, working in the field of neurology, as well as health institutions managers will benefit from this symposium.
