Knowledge in the genetics of inflammatory diseases has seen remarkable progress over the last few years. The availability of new genetic tools associated with the elucidation of the whole human genome sequence have led to considerable expectations.
It is fair to recognize, however, that there is insufficient communication and interaction between scientists and clinicians in the different medical fields. Experts within a medical specialty do meet, but there is no or very little opportunity for physicians of different specialties to share results and related concepts.
This meeting aimed at gathering specialists in the fields of Multiple Sclerosis and Psoriasis to discuss the general topic of pharmacogenomics applied to therapeutics of these diseases.
OBJECTIVES
After attending this conference, the participants had an updated knowledge on:
- Pathophysiology and genetics of Multiple Sclerosis and Psoriasis
- Biomarkers and gene espression profiling
- Lessons from animal models
- Pharmacogenomics and inflammatory diseases therapeutics
- Optimisation of patient care
TARGET AUDIENCE
Attendants included geneticists, immunologists, neurologists and clinicians in the field of Neurology and Dermatology, with the goal of sharing the various approaches to diseases including considerations of animal models.
