AIM OF THE MEETING
To provide participants from different parts of the world with the possibility to interact and discuss the most recent findings concerning metabolic syndrome, the effects of growth hormone on metabolism, and the effects of chronic diseases on growth. The use of growth hormone or IGF-I in non-growth hormone deficient conditions like idiopathic short stature, chronic diseases and Prader-Willi syndrome will also be reviewed.

At the end of the Symposium, the attendees will have an updated knowledge on:
- The genetic and pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome.
- The consequences of metabolic syndrome in infancy.
- The metabolic effects of GH and IGF-I.
- The mechanism of growth impairment in chronic disease.
- How to improve growth in chronic diseases.
- GH use under special conditions.
