Recent Advancements In Sex Differentiation And Related Disorders - Avances recientes en la diferenciación sexual y sus patologías relacionadas

The objective of this Symposium is to provide participants with the most updated knowledge on physiologic mechanisms of sexual development and on pathophysiology of sexual development disorders. Criteria for sex assignment and for the diagnosis of sex disorders and skills useful in the management of these disorders will be presented too.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the Symposium, the attendees will have acquired:

  • New criteria for sex assignment;
  • An updated knowledge on the mechanisms of sex differentiation involving cells, gonadotrophins and other mediators;
  • The background to orientate the diagnosis of the disorders of sex differentiation;
  • The knowledge on psychological aspects of disorders of sex differentiation that involve patients, families and the social environment;
  • The skills needed to manage the psychological aspects;
  • An update on protocols for management and long-term follow-up of patients with disorders of sex differentiation.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Paediatric endocrinologists, basic and clinical geneticists and biologists, urologists, surgeons, pathologists and psychologists interested in the care of patients with disorders of sex differentiation.
